We are pleased that you have chosen to visit our website and we hope it will answer any questions you might have about our unique family business. The owner of the store, A.E. Runge Jr., or Tad as his friends and customers call him, represents the most recent generation of Runges to become committed to the appreciation and marketing of attractive older and antique oriental carpets. The tradition was started by his great grandfather, Edward Runge, who bought and sold oriental rugs on Fifth Avenue in New York starting in the 1880s.

The present business and store has been located on Main Street in Yarmouth since 1987. Its large inventory of handmade orientals has been purchased almost entirely from estates and private individuals in New England and Europe. Most date between 1900 and 1930, and are chosen for that difficult-to-find combination of aesthetic beauty, exceptional condition, and fair value.

Our hours are almost always as follows: Tuesday-Friday: 10-5 Saturday: 10-3, and we invite you to come visit us on your next trip to the beautiful state of Maine. The store is located at 108 Main Street in Yarmouth (see directions). The Town of Yarmouth is itself worthy of a visit with its old New England village and picturesque waterfront.
